POSITION SUMMARY:
The Project Engineer plays a critical role in supporting project execution and ensuring smooth coordination between the Project Manager, field operations, subcontractors, and design partners. This position manages project documentation, assists with budgeting and scheduling, supports subcontractor oversight, and helps ensure that work is completed to plan, on time, and with quality. The Project Engineer reports to the Project Manager, Operations Manager, or Senior Project Manager.
This role is based in our Orlando office.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Coordination & Scheduling
- Administer the distribution of plans and specifications to subcontractors and coordinate the subcontractor solicitation process.
- Support the Project Manager and field operations teams in implementing the project and maintaining updated schedules throughout the job.
- Serve as a point of contact for subcontractors in the absence of the Project Manager and help ensure work progresses in alignment with project plans.
Budgeting & Financial Tracking
- Assist the Project Manager in preparing preliminary project budgets and ensuring the accuracy of financial forecasts.
- Monitor project budgets during execution and support cost-tracking efforts.
- Assist with the verification and timely processing of subcontractor and owner pay applications.
- Prepare owner and subcontractor change orders, maintain the Change Order Log, and track necessary reviews and approvals.
Documentation & Submittal Management
- Establish and maintain the general project filing system to ensure accurate, organized documentation.
- Maintain the Submittal Log and coordinate the orderly and timely approval of submittals with architects and engineers.
- Prepare project documentation and correspondence in accordance with company standards and guidelines.
Procurement & Contract Administration
- Create or assist with issuing subcontracts, purchase orders, and related project documents.
- Manage buyout responsibilities for assigned scopes of work as directed by the Project Manager.
- Coordinate requests for equipment rentals, materials, and required documentation to support ongoing project activities.
Quality Support
- Support the Project Manager in monitoring the quality of work and documenting subcontractor performance concerns.
- Continuously expand professional knowledge and skills to contribute to team performance and project success.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall project needs and company priorities.
Closeout
- Develop and assemble closeout documentation, including as-built drawings, operating manuals, shop drawings, and warranties.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Four-year degree in construction, engineering, or related field, or currently enroll in a college degree program, or equivalent construction experience/technical training.
- Proficiency with computers, project management software and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to read construction drawings.
- Highly organized, efficient, detail-oriented, and an effective communicator.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Hourly Range: $26.00 – $40.00 (experience-based)
